I was doing nothing out of the ordinary, just searching web tutorials on how to format Wordpress category links, then BAM! I got a popup.

“Weird,” I think to myself. “Chrome is usually pretty good about stopping these.”

I Xed out of it and go about my business. A few minutes later, I Google something new in my pursuit of blog customization, and the link I follow takes me to a site that asks me to confirm that I’m not a bot “for our records.” I type in the squiggly figure, hit enter, and get taken to a site advertising the new Twitter for local singles.

“This is not blogdesignblog.com,” I think.

This has been happening now for about an hour. Some pages are not loading, some pages are causing the graphic indicating the page is still loading to perpetually spin, others are quickly redirecting me to ad sites, and popups have been, well, popping up every few minutes.

Now, for about a month or two, I’ve been considering reformatting my computer’s HDD and reloading Windows on it. I’ve loaded a whole lot of crappy software onto the computer since I reloaded Windows back in January, and it’s made things super sluggish and poopy. I convinced myself that it’s totally not necessary, and since it would be an elective procedure, that emotional breakdown I had last time would hardly be worth it.

This might just push me over the edge. If I decide to go through with this, I hope hope hope it goes smoother than last time.

Me: "If something happened to you that should be on the news, which local station would you call?"

Me: "If something happened to you that should be on the news, which local station would you call?"

Seriously, guys? You’re on Twitter, but you can’t even take photos of the products you’re selling? 40+ pages of hand drawn New Balance sneakers and Tackle Boxes? I mean, for realzy?

I have not followed a regular workout regiment for nearly 10 years. The last time my body fat percentage was checked, I was considered obese. My BMI says nearly the same thing.

I do not watch what I eat. I do not push myself. I do not try to stay active. I do not train.

I am not strong. I am not fast. Most importantly, I do not have endurance.

But for some reason I have chosen to do a 100 mile bike ride in 4 days, and I am very nervous.

70 Miler on dailymile

70 Miler on dailymile

September 8th

I grew up cooking tortillas on an antique cast iron stove plate (like the ones on this guy). One day, before Ally and I were dating, we were talking on the phone and she mentioned that she had just stuck her quesadilla in the microwave. I was dumbfounded. What an abomination of tortilla cooking, I thought.

My snobbery has since taken a back seat to the convenience of microwave ovens. I’ve been primarily microwaving my quesadillas now for probably around 6 years, but my parents, the original preachers of my former philosophy, found Ally and me a tortilla plate (I can’t remember where, but it was detached from its original stove-top during the acquisition). It shall now forever live on our back right burner (which is too small to cook anything of any real substance or significant size/portion anyway), calling to us to throw a tortilla on it. Go ahead, it says. Lay one on me.

Today, I abided.

September 7th

I miss spending time on my computer every day. Even after the daily photo project ended, I still spent at least 30 minutes/day on it checking emails and reading blogs.

Now the iPhone has really taken over most of those basic computing tasks. I mean, who needs a computer to check email anymore?

But sometimes I really miss the tactile crunch of my keyboard.

"please come tempt me
